So welcome back to the new year. To start of the blog for 2014 this weeks TidBit will be a little bit of news from this blog. So, introducing the Arduino remote control. For some time I have been looking for a nice simple and universal way to give remote input to my Arduino controlled robots and vehicles.
So far I have not found anything that really satisfies what I am looking for, and from what I see on the forums, the feeling is mutual for many others. This is why I am releasing an a free app on the stores to allow anyone with a network connected arduino to access the full power of the remote control connected over wifi or 3g/4g (even from the other side of the world over the internet!). What defines this as a universal remote is the fact the it is customised by the code running on your Arduino. Its plug and play! Continue reading
If you have ever felt like you need to be apart of history, now is another one of those chances. Mars One, the privately funded exploration to mars has just launched their crowd funding campaign.
The ultimate goal is to settle man on the red planet permanently, and this first major round of funding is one step closer to that goal. This funding will help Lockheed Martin and Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL) to develop the mission concept studies for the first private mars lander and satellite.
Of course as with any crowd funding project there are the perks, and the Mars One perks are pretty awesome. These goodies range from the humble T-shirt to selfies of your picture in space, all the way to being at the launch party for the first rocket launch in 2018. Now these are extremely limited (only 30 places) so get in quick to reserve you spot. Continue reading
This quick video shows you what happens the first time you insert a Blu-ray or DVD in to the Xbox One console. To play movies you have to first download the Blu-ray App for the Xbox. The Xbox One Blu-ray app is a fairly decent movie player, although lacking somewhat as it does not include include 3-D Blu-ray abilities at this time. Hopefully this will be a feature in the future thanks to a software update. Continue reading
Xbox One Forza 5 Disk Case
With the launch of the next generation Xbox this last week, many users will have been opening their new games to find something is just a little, backwards. It appears in all its wisdom Microsoft has decided somewhere down the line to make the Xbox One Game Case Backwards? Add this to the surprise of having to keep disks in the console after waiting for them to install for five minutes due to the whole DRM issue. It is quite annoying. I must ask, Microsoft after years of media (Including VCR’s, remember those) being on the right side of the pack, why would you change now. Any way I would love to hear your comments on the strange backwards thinking, tell us what you think with a quick comment below.
This is the Xbox One day one first boot. The initial setup takes around twenty minutes. This video has been shortened to 5 minutes to show everything that you will see when the console is first turned on.
More Information to come shortly (Maybe a few hours).

The JaJa by HEX3 is an intriguing member from the small family of styli for our finger oriented capacitive touch devices. The JaJa is my first pressure sensitive pen designed for iPad and Android tablets, and I can say it is a very impressive piece of technology so far. After you get past the price of $115 Aussie Dollars direct from HEX3 (Adding all the extra charges for everything, you know how it is), you get a pretty nice piece of technology that is a bit different to the rest.
The JaJa Styli By HEX3
What makes this stylus unique is that it does not use any standard wireless technology to communicate with your devices such as Bluetooth. Instead it uses high frequency sounds to achieve its communication with any application enabled for the JaJa on any device, be it an iPad or an Android. Due to the use of the high frequency sound the JaJa is the only pressure sensitive device to work with a first generation iPad. Continue reading
